Research

Oforiwaa Pee’s research interests are transportation, urban accessibility, food security, and sustainability. She looks at these through transport geography, transport planning, and development geography lenses with a regional specialty in Africa. She is interested in revealing how government/donor funding plays an essential role in the kind of transport infrastructure interventions and how transportation and its politics advance accessibility to public amenities, particularly food outlets. Research Experience

  • UMN Department of Geography, Environment and Society Doctoral Researcher: Developing and coordinating independent international research projects as well as communicating key findings through presentations and publications.
  • UMN Extension GIS Research Assistant: Conducted GIS analyses of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Minnesota. Analyzed and visualized local food supply chains and food access for various socioeconomic groups in Minnesota at the census tract level for applied research and evaluation projects.
